Tips To Make a Good Brochure Design
Can you buy a dress online from a newly established brand,
even before touching and judging its fabric? A big NO from my side! Then how
could anyone expect the prospects to get his/her product/services by just
marketing online?
Brochures are a great medium to give your customers
something tangible that they can read in their leisure time. Brochures design provide
the convenience of brief and targeted messages straight to the hands of potential
customers. They assure the portability, which means your message can accompany
them to their work place, till they have a spare minute after having lunch or between.
Brochures can be printed in various ways, giving you the
option to determine your own cost basis. These marketing mediums can be as
simple as monochrome copy on a bi-fold sheet or as complex as phrasings
combined with full-color graphic photographs and images on numerous pages of
glossy paper. An integral benefit of the brochure layout is that it also allows
clienteles to easily pass on your data to others.
Below are a few things that you'll want to look at to get an
effective brochure.
Focus on the purpose
of your brochure:
It is important because it informs everything else
concerning your brochure. A common mistake that people commit is to try and
cram overmuch into a single piece, only because there's space. It is better to
focus on a single goal for your design. Doing this helps to focus everything
else regarding your brochure design (colors, copy, image selection, layout),
& creates a more effective piece, in turn.
Use your brochure
format to your advantage, but don't get restricted to your design.
For a folded brochure, consider how a user consumes your
piece. Typically, they look at the cover, and they unfold it to reveal
something underneath. A double gatefold brochure has 2 outer pieces that fold
in, and then it is folded in half again. It gives your brochure more
opportunities to present or "spread out" information to the viewer.
Sometimes surprises or something unexpected revealed can create an interesting
piece.
Consider carefully
the size and number size of pages
A standard trifold is very popular style of brochure. It may
help give a general overview of a certain product or an overview of your
company. If you need little bit more space, think about an 8.5" x 14"
sheet for providing you with two extra pages or panels. For more extensive
brochures, a multi-page brochure might be needed to display a range of services/products.
Be selective about the
paper stock for your brochure
When it comes to the brochure experience, paper
is the tactile part. The quality, weight, and coating chosen for your brochures can communicate
volumes in and of itself. For a more substantial brochure, all you want is to
use a heavier stock, especially for the cover of your multi-page brochure. If,
however, your piece requires multiple folds, go for a thinner stock (but not
too thin!) that can allow the piece to easily crease cleanly and remain closed
flat.
